BREVILLE BES 870 OVER HEATING

The machine flashes the single and double filter size buttons and power button but never gets to the ready mode, then over heats.

NTC sensor?

Why does everybody suspect the NTC sensor? Some technicians always replace the NTC sensor when repairing an over heating issue, just in case the component has been compromised. But usually they are not the one paying the bill.

Anyway as I’m prone to over starting, It’s nearly always a Triac and like most Breville machines this model has a triac located in a daft place. At the rear of the machine under the water tank. I suggest replacing this triac.

  • Hello! I have a Breville oracle BES980 after changing the o-rings I started it up and the temp surpassed the usual 93 (I’m talking above 100 and kept rising). I turned it on later that night to show my partner and it then wouldn’t rise above 70. So I’ve opened it back up and following your articles I dealt with why it might have been stalling at 70. Turns out the thermal fuse had blown but that was probably an after effect of the over heating so hesitant to put it back together until I figure out what caused it to overheat. After reading this article I’m thinking it may be the triac aswell? Thoughts? Thank you
